we all know that the watchtower (jehovah's witnesses) say the reason for disfellowshipping is to protect the congregation from some uncleanness or threat.so they "quarantine" (shun) those they perceive can spread information that does not agree fully with their teachings/doctrines.it's almost like they want to liken it to a real disease by calling opposers "mentally diseased", "threat" etc.

will the current state of affairs in the world regarding this pandemic strengthen their cause/argument in favor of isolating within their ranks?

i can visualize them in the near future even having parts at the hall or assemblies pointing back to this pandemic and saying something along the lines of "brothers what do you think would happen if we would not have quarantined and stayed away from any that were infected?

What SHOULD have woken you up ?

for myself, there is an embarrassingly long list of things that really should really have woken me up, fully.

it was a long process for me, as a mind controlled born in, things i simply did not agree with, or knew were downright wrong, that built and built, and, eventually i woke up, after 58 bloody years in !.

but just mainly for fun, what should have woken you up ?.

first alert was when they showed the video which explained you should not answer your disfellowshipped daughter, even for a phone call...

the good one was when elders told me I would have to chose between remaining in the congregation and playing "pagan music" with worldy people" in our town band. This evening, it was my last meeting and I never went back.

How Many Here Remember Hearing Details from the Platform on Why a Person was Reproved or DF'd ???

i just had this flashback when commenting on another thread about how they used to announce reproof or dfing from the platform.

at least in our congregation, it was a dramatic event (this is what i can remember from back in the mid-late 60's or early 70's when i was a kid).. at the end of the service meeting, just before singing the final song, the brother would announce, "we have a letter that must be read.

the "congregation servant" (my grandfather or later my father) would then slowly walk from the back of the kh to the platform.

exactly what I lived several years ago. "Brother Polish Clarinet is no longer a ministerial servant". And now, brother Asshole will warn the assembly about the dangers of dating a non witness person" I hope nobody understood what my "sin" was...

Not invited to congregation “get togethers”. They finally said it

we don’t get many invitations to congregational social gatherings.

we don’t attend midweek meetings and miss about 1/3 of sunday meetings.

we go in service at least once a month.

I've been living this situation for 14 years as a ministerial servant for being too... SERIOUS ! And then when I became a PIMO, I wasn't invited for being too... WEAK !

Now, after 3 years out of this crap, but not disfellowshipped nor disassociated, when I meet JWs on the street they wonder if they sould say "hello" of nor... Very nice organisation indeed !
